Family Fest, slated Saturday, Oct. 12, invites all Warhawk families to visit campus and share in the fun firsthand at UW-Whitewater.
“Everyone wears purple gear,” said Amberly Bell, transfer and family programs coordinator. “That just really speaks to the way that our families are engaged with our students and how proud our families are that their students are at UW-Whitewater.”
Food, carnival games, face painting, music and pictures with Willie Warhawk – the most popular attraction – begin at the Warhawk Family Festival, which will take place 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kachel Fieldhouse.
After that, fans will head to Perkins Stadium to cheer for the Warhawk football players when they take on the Blue Devils of UW-Stout. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m.
“Family Fest is a great way for parents to come and celebrate what their student is doing, but also feel a piece of how powerful this institution is,” said Amy Edmonds, interim athletic director.
At 7:30 p.m. in the Young Auditorium, the band DSB will be performing a tribute to Journey. Warhawks are admitted free with their HawkCard while adult tickets range from $21.25 to $31.25. This year for the first time, all tickets can be purchased online. A package deal includes a Family Festival ticket, football game ticket and Warhawk blanket for $26.50 per person.
Family Fest welcomes all families, whether they’re seeing their freshman for the first time since move-in day or returning for another year of celebration as their Warhawk moves toward graduation.
