The auditions for Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of “Beauty Lou and the Country Beast” will be held on Monday, Aug. 12 from 4-6 p.m. at Young Auditorium, 900 W. Main St., on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus.
There are roles for children entering first grade (age 5 and older) through 12th grade (up to age 18). About 50-60 local children will be cast to appear in the show with the two MCT tour actors/directors. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play.
Registration will take place from 3-3:45 p.m., forms are available at www.uww.edu/youngauditorium/season/beauty-lou.
Students wishing to audition must arrive by 4 p.m. and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first two-hour rehearsal begins approximately 15-30 minutes after the audition.
This is a group audition – no advanced preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time.
Rehearsals will be conducted on Monday following the audition and casting session (6:30-8:30 p.m.) and Tuesday through Friday 12:30-5 p.m. at Young Auditorium.
Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week, and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role.
A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4-1/2 hours of rehearsal will be asked to bring a snack to eat during the break between rehearsal sessions.
The performance will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 2 p.m. at Young Auditorium. The children in the cast will be called for dress rehearsal before the performance that day. All cast members must be available for the dress rehearsal and the scheduled performance.
