A 37-year-old Town of Whitewater man was killed in a snowmobile crash on Tuesday night, according to a news release from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
Michael H. Zielinski was snowmobiling on his property at W9215 Highway 59 when he struck a tree at about 11 p.m., authorities said.
Deputies and first responders from Whitewater Fire and Rescue found Zielinski unresponsive near his 2002 Yamaha snowmobile. He was not wearing a helmet, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Although CPR was performed, the life-saving attempts were unsuccessful and the Walworth County coroner later pronounced Zielinski dead at the scene.
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wardens responded to the scene, which is normal protocol for a fatality involving a snowmobile or a watercraft vessel, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Additional details were unavailable at press time.
The incident remains under investigation.
