A jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 11 and 12 for a Whitewater man charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Matthew W. VanderPluym, 18, appeared in court in custody Oct. 19 for a status conference in the case in which he is charged with repeated sexual assault of a child, a Class B felony that carries a maximum penalty of 60 years in prison. VanderPluym pleaded not guilty to the charge Aug. 8.
According to the criminal complaint:
A 12-year-old girl told police VanderPluym had sexual contact with her a number of times over the past several months at a home in the Town of Whitewater. The girl said VanderPluym attempted sexual intercourse with her. The girl said VanderPluym also put his hand under her clothes and touched her “private parts” several times.
