Whitewater High School kicked off its Homecoming week on Monday with the theme “It’s the End of the World” at the center of the festivities.
The celebration of school spirit began with the annual Homecoming powder-puff football game Oct. 1 with the junior class claiming the championship after beating the seniors, 8-6.
The weeklong series of events will culminate with the Homecoming football game and dance.
The Whitewater High School varsity football team will host the Big Foot Chiefs on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. at the high school, 534 S. Elizabeth St. Homecoming Court members and Spirit Week winners will be introduced during halftime.
This year’s Homecoming royalty will consist of representatives nominated by the various organizations and sports that are active during the fall.
Court members were announced at the Lip Sync Competition on Wednesday.
The Homecoming dance will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Tickets for the dance will be sold before and after school during Homecoming Week. Tickets are $10 if purchased Thursday and Friday.
The last opportunity for students to purchase tickets will be on Friday, Oct. 5, from 3 to 3:30 p.m. in the front lobby near the main office. There will be no tickets sold at the door the evening of the dance.
Other Homecoming activities include a canned-food drive, penny war, Circle Bash and Almost Anything Goes competition.
