Bingo doesn’t have to be played indoors.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen indoor attendance restrictions, dozens of people found a way to play Bingo outdoors Feb. 20 in the Big Foot Union High School parking lot.
Parking Lot Bingo, sponsored by Big Foot Union High School, Main Street Country Store, Frog Hollow, Sentry and Twisted Scissors, allowed people to play 10 games from their own vehicle.
Organizers called numbers over the radio and then the winners honked if they earned a bingo, with prizes delivered directly to the winner’s vehicle.
While people played 10 games, each game featured different twists, ranging from dumb bell, tic tac toe, airplane, field goal, top and bottom, line three, picnic table, plus sign and even a heart.
Each game took about 15 minutes, but after the fifth game, participants took a 15-minute break to turn in their tickets for prize redemption.
The Big Foot Recreation District, which organized the event, is planning to hold Parking Lot Bingo games again on Saturday, March 20 and Saturday, April 17.
Register online at bigfootrecreation.org. The cost to attend is $12 per person. The registration fee includes a bag with a dauber, bingo cards and a pattern sheet for each player. All participants must remain in their vehicle during games.
