Big Foot High School plans to take the public on a journey into the halls of 2021 East High School, where students are all masked and socially distanced, in its production of “Disney’s High School Musical: On Stage!”
According to school officials, they will professionally record three separate live performances and streamed online for the public at designated times.
The performances, officials added, will have a small audience of staff and families of the cast and crew as a precaution against COVID-19.
However, students still put in the work and the school encouraged the public to watch the show.
“While we would have wished to be ‘all together’ for this performance, the show must go on,” the school stated. “We hope you support all of the hard work these students have put into this show and tune in to watch.”
Showtimes will be 7 p.m. on March 5-6 and March 12-13 as well as 2 p.m. Sunday matinees on March 7 and 14.

Director favorite
Liza Shapin, Director/Choreographer, said the musical is her favorite and states the show’s message will never go out of style.
According to Stageagent.com, the musical centers on the blossoming relationship high school jock Troy Bolton, played by BFHS student Alex Schmitz, and new smart girl Gabriella Montez, played by Amanda Miller.
“They meet on a family vacation and become attracted to each other while singing in a karaoke competition,” Stageagent states in its synopsis.
“Rediscovering each other at school, their relationship and their surprise decision to audition together for the school show are thwarted by the school’s current leading lady, Sharpay, and Troy and Gabriella’s well-meaning friends.”
Hanah Nordmeyer plays the role of Sharpay.
Meanwhile, Gabriella and Troy eventually find a way to be themselves and rewarded with the lead roles in the school show.
Stageagent states the show explores issues of friendship, first love and acceptance.
Other characters include Ryan Evans (played by Nathan Birdsall), Chad Denforth (Jacob Laing), Taylor McKessie (Maggie Norman), Zeke Baylor (Austin Buchholz), Martha Cox (Veronica Jackson), Mrs. Darbus (Tiffany Borger), Coach Jack Bolton (Ethan Jackowski), Kelsi Nielson(Lindsey McIntyre), Jackie Scott (Amanda Bender), Ripper (Kelsey Amstutz), Mongo (Alexa Cary), Jason (Gus Foster, Kratnoff (Sarah Frederick) and Ms. Tenny (Lacey Klade).
The show features multiple dance captains, music and production members, crew embers, and people tasked with scenic design.
