Walworth County will host an appliance and electronic recycling event that will include the allowance of a variety of televisions, though there is a cost associated with some types.
The event will be 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 11, at the Walworth County Fairgrounds (Dairy Barn), 411 E. Court St., Elkhorn. Sponsors include Walworth County, Refrigerant Depot, LLC and E-Cycle, LLC.
Recycling crews will accept a large variety of appliances, excluding water softeners. All gas and oil must be removed from grills and lawn mowers.
Accepted appliances will include: air conditioners, dishwashers, microwaves, stoves, washers, dryers, range tops, car batteries, wall ovens, water coolers, dehumidifiers, freezers, refrigerators and water heaters.
Water softeners will not be allowed.
Electronics accepted will include: TVs, computers, monitors, cell phones, tablets, DVRs, routers/modems, laptops, printers, fax machines, VCRs, Blu-Ray players, iPods, iPads, keyboards/mice, tablets, iPods, iPads, notebooks/netbooks, video equipment, receivers, storage devices, MP3s, copiers, digital devices and cords.
Items that will not be accepted are: ink or toner cartridges; smoke or carbon monoxide detectors; fire extinguishers; medical equipment; household batteries; light bulbs; de-manufactured units; or, CDs, cassette tapes or DVDs.
The cost to recycle CRT, console, projection, LCD and LDE TVs is $40 each. Only cash will be accepted and will be collected at the recycling event.
For a cost of $10 each (also cash only) CRT or LCD monitors can be recycled.
All other appliances, electronics and lawn equipment can be recycled at the July 11 event for free.
