Amelia Hayden earns ‘Delivered’ by Domino’s honor
Amelia Hayden, of Sharon and member of the Big Foot High School class of 2017, recently won a FFA scholarship sponsored by Domino’s.
Hayden will be a junior at University of Minnesota–Twin Cities in the fall. She is studying agriculture education, with the intention to teach high school agriculture.
During her time in FFA, Hayden held many leadership positions and served as the Big Foot chapter president, the Wisconsin FFA state vice president, and most recently, the Wisconsin FFA state president. She was the National FFA agriscience fair winner from 2015 to 2017 and the 2018 National FFA agricultural education proficiency winner.
Outside of FFA, Hayden is involved in the University of Minnesota agricultural education, communication and marketing club, and the University of Minnesota agribusiness club. In high school, Hayden was in the Sharon 4-H Club, the Big Foot High School drama club and the National Honor Society.
Eighteen students across the country received $1,000 scholarships sponsored by Domino’s. The scholarships are part of Domino’s five-year, $1 million commitment to the National FFA Organization.
Nate Burton, franchise owner of the Domino’s in Delavan, said dairy plays a vital role in the business.
“I, along with the other franchisees across the country, know there is no Domino’s without the dairy, tomato, wheat and other farmers working hard every day to produce the food we serve,” Burton said.
“I am glad we can help local students by sponsoring scholarships to help them achieve their dreams and develop a successful career in the agriculture industry,” he added.
In 2020, the National FFA Organization awarded $2 million in scholarships to 1,324 students. Scholarships are sponsored by businesses and individuals through the National FFA Foundation and are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals and higher education plans.
The selection process reviews the whole student – FFA involvement, work experience, supervised agricultural experience (SAE), community service, leadership skills and academics.
