Registration deadline April 24 to get a shirt
Agape House, a private residential home and school for teens in Walworth, is gearing up to host its annual 5K Run Walk Stroll event, albeit a little later than normal.
The annual event is held in conjunction with National Child Abuse Prevention month, which is in April. Due to the Stay-at Home order in place as a precaution against the spread of the Coronavirus, Agape House staff decided to move this year’s 5K to mid-May.
“Our hope is that this order will be lifted and we will all have a good reason to get out and enjoy some fresh air and fellowship, while supporting this cause,” a press release about the event states.
Individuals, families and groups are encouraged to participate in what staff describe as a “fun, non-competitive outing” on Saturday, May 16.
The usual registration fee will be waived though donations will be accepted. It’s important to note that those planning to participate still need to register if they want to receive a t-shirt (limited to adults only.) The registration deadline is Friday, April 24.
In an effort to stay safe and avoid crowding, there will be no lunch served at this year’s event. Those participants who raise $100 or more in support donations will be eligible for award prizes.
Registration for the 5K Run Walk Stroll will begin at 8:30 a.m. that day while the event will begin at 10 a.m.
Note that prizes will be awarded to the top three individuals or groups who raise the most financial support. Prizes include: a Geneva National gift certificate for golf package for four; a gift certificate from Gia Salon and Spa; and a gift basket from First National Bank & Trust. Forms for those interested in raising money are available on the Agape House website.
The 5K course begins and ends near the Agape House school parking lot at 215 S. Main St. in Walworth. The route along village streets provides ease of use for running, walking, strollers, and wheelchairs.

About Agape House
Agape House is the only private residential home and school for teens in Wisconsin. The non-profit organization offers hope and healing to abused or distressed girls ages 12 through 18, and boys 12 to 16 years old.
The Agape House program offers Agape Home, a Christ-centered, non-denominational residential and transitional home; Agape School, individualized academics for resident and non-resident teens; mentoring for teens and young women; and counseling services for the teens, their families and the greater community.
Founded by Ben and Pam Patterson, Agape House is a non-profit organization sustained by monetary donations and the work of volunteers with only 20 percent of funding coming from tuition fees.
