The Big Foot High School Board of Education approved the retirement of principal Mike Hinske late last year, effective June 30. Hinske has been serving Big Foot High School for 38 years: 12 years as principal, 10 as assistant principal/dean of students, and 16 years as a physical education teacher.
Since Hinske’s announcement, the Board has been seeking a qualified person to step into that position effective July 1.
A committee reviewed 30 applications, narrowed it down to eight who underwent interviews, and from there the final two were interviewed by District Administrator Doug Parker, who made a recommendation to the Board.
During the regular meeting on Feb. 19, the Board of Education approved the recommendation to hire Dr. Heidi Deininger to replace retiring Hinske.
