A warrant was issued Dec. 12 for the arrest of an Illinois man charged with robbing the Sharon Super Mart at gunpoint.
Juan M. Alonzo, 23, of Harvard, Ill., was charged Dec. 11 in Walworth County Circuit Court with armed robbery as a party to a crime.
According to the criminal complaint, a Hispanic man wearing dark pants, a dark jacket and shoes with paint spatter on them pointed a gun at the station owner and demanded money Dec. 9. The owner said the man’s hands were inside his coat sleeves, but he could see what appeared to be a gun barrel sticking out of one of the sleeves, according to the complaint. The owner said he provided money from a register to the man as he demanded, the complaint reads.
The man was seen on surveillance video leaving the station in a dark Cadillac-style car, according to the complaint. The next day, Harvard, Ill., police stopped a car that matched that description and apprehended Alonzo, who matched the description of the robber, had a loaded handgun with him that had been reported stolen and was wearing a dark jacket and paint-splattered shoes, according the complaint.
