The Sharon Economic Development Committee will be hosting a traditional Farmers Market this summer, featuring vendors selling local farm produce, artwork, crafts, baked goods and other businesses.
“As a non-profit corporation, our initial objective is not monetary gain, but rather the hope that this market will benefit the economic development of Sharon,” a press release about the market states.
“The hope is that this market will benefit the economic development of Sharon by increasing traffic in our business district, showcasing the historic downtown in a different light, and boosting community pride by bringing a quality market to each resident’s doorstep,” the release further states.
People already come into Sharon for various events including Model A Days, the Fourth of July Parade and Victorian Christmas. The committee’s main goal with the market is to provide another reason for people to visit Sharon, but on a more regular basis.
The first registration for vendors for the market is free; after that it’s $15 per event or $60 for the entire season.
The market will be held in downtown Sharon, at Baldwin and Plain streets, from 4 to 7 p.m. on the first and third Friday of the month, beginning June 16 and running through Oct. 6.
