Big Foot Lion’s Club lobster boil set for July 30
The Big Foot Lion’s Club will host its 33rd Annual Lobster Boil and Steak Fry from noon to 11:30 p.m. on July 30 in Fontana’s Reid Park on the lakefront.
Lion Andy Pearce described the event as the area’s most popular fundraiser, the “Biggest Social Event in Fontana.”
“People come to Fontana this weekend just for the ‘Lobster Boil’ to see old friends and have a great time,” he said.
The event will kick off with lunch at noon and serving time for the lobster boil and steak fry dinner beginning at 2 p.m. Dinner will be served until 9 p.m. and drive through service at the park house is available until 8 p.m.
Pearce said last year was a record year for the club, selling more than 2,600 dinners, 400 of which were sold at the drive through.
The event will have continuous music throughout the entire day, lasting until 11:30 p.m. This year’s line up includes Al’s Blues Band at noon, Mr. Myers Band at 3 p.m. and the Eddie Butts Band playing from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. In between bands and at breaks, the Big Foot High School band will perform.
“This is a great place for family and friends to gather throughout the day as we have live music all day long,” Pearce said.
The event will feature a children’s area, set up by Life Of The Party, with plenty of activities for children.
As for the adults, Pearce said the event will feature a beer tent, serving Miller products and wine cooler. He said they will also serve white and red wine, which has been a huge success.
Advance tickets are available at Sentry Foods in Walworth, Chuck’s Lakeshore Inn in Fontana and from any Big Foot Lion’s Club member. Tickets are $34 in advance for lobster, $22 in advance for steak, and $2 more at the door. Pearce said while the event typically sells out of food by about 7:30 p.m., those who purchase advanced tickets are guaranteed a meal.
