Man arrested at Big Foot Beach State Park after police arranged meeting through app
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 2 for an Illinois man charged with having sex with a 12-year-old girl in Lake Geneva whom he met online.
Adam Michael Rhodes, 22, of Kildeer, Ill., was charged Oct. 27 in Walworth County Circuit Court with two counts of first-degree child sexual assault and possession of marijuana.
A $10,000 cash bond was set for Rhodes during an Oct. 20 bail and bond hearing, for which Rhodes appeared in custody, via video.
According to the criminal complaint, the girl told a forensic interviewer that she met a man she knew as Adam on a phone app called Kik Messenger with the account name “Daddy.” The girl said “Adam” told her he is 18 years old, and the two met twice in lake Geneva and had sexual intercourse each time, according to the complaint.
On the first occasion, Oct. 9, she said, “Adam” picked her up in a silver car and they parked in the Badger High School parking lot and had sexual intercourse and oral sex in the car, according to the complaint. On the second occasion, Oct. 14, she said, “Adam” picked her up in a different car and they parked near the Showboat Theater and had sex in the car, ac-cording to the complaint.
A detective logged into the girl’s Kik Messenger account and arranged to meet “Daddy” at Big Foot Beach State Park on Oct. 19. Rhodes arrived in the second vehicle the girl described, and marijuana was found in the car he was driving, according to the complaint.
