A Walworth man was scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 28 on charges of repeatedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Walworth.
Silverio A. Moreno, 32, was charged Sept. 21 in Walworth County Circuit Court with repeated sexual assault of a child, at least three violations of first degree sexual assault, a Class B Felony, and three counts of causing a child younger than 13 years old to view or listen to sexual activity, a Class F Felony.
Penalties for a conviction of a Class B Felony offense carry a maximum imprisonment of 60 years, with an increased penalty for first degree sexual assault, and penalties for a conviction of a Class F Felony offense carry a maximum imprisonment of 12-1/2 years for each count.
Court records show a cash bond of $10,000 was set for Moreno by Walworth County Circuit Court Judge Phillip Koss on Sept. 18 and Moreno appeared in court Oct. 14 for a preliminary hearing.
A request for substitution of judge was filed on Oct. 20 by Moreno’s attorney and according to court records, Walworth County Circuit Court Judge Kristine Drettwan was assigned Oct. 26 to handle the case going forward
According to the criminal complaint, the girl described Moreno sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions over a two-year period at three residences in the Village of Walworth beginning when she was 9 years old. The girl also described incidents when Moreno showed her “inappropriate” videos on his phone of “naked people” kissing and “reproducing,” according to the complaint.
