Three area locals were recognized as the Geneva Lake West Chamber of Commerce’s Citizens of the Year at its 41st annual awards ceremony held last Wednesday at Abbey Springs Country Club.
LaMarr “Sparky” Lundberg, of Williams Bay, Mary Heyer, of Walworth, and Cheri Brost, of Fontana, were all recognized for their dedication to their communities during the annual banquet last week.
According to Jake Riez, chamber director and chairman of the Citizen of the Year awards committee, said the committee looks at a variety or criteria when choosing the years’ recipients, including: the nominee has personally helped the less fortunate and continues to do so, gives freely of his or her own time to make the community a better place, volunteers to help the sick, elderly or handicapped and sets an example of a civic-minded, involved and caring role model.
