Middle school-aged students from Walworth Grade School are busily working to prepare for their upcoming production of “Dear Edwina Jr.,” to be performed next weekend.
The show focuses around a group of teens from Paw Paw, Mich., led by a character named Edwina, who get together to produce a weekly show giving advice to those who send in letters with problems that need solutions. Packed with comedy, while most costumes in the show are normal high school student dress, more elaborate costumes include ballerinas, cheerleaders and the groups depicting Edwina’s advice: a 60s rock band, a steel drum band, Vladimir and Frankeguest and more.
Students first received scripts back in January, with auditions taking place in February and rehearsals beginning on Feb. 16.
The show is being performed at 6:30 p.m. on both Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, with two different casts, to give more students and opportunity to be involved in the production. Tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for children, and can be obtained through the school’s office, 121 Beloit St., Walworth. For more information, contact the school at (262) 275-6896.
