Lake Geneva Country Meats and the United Way of Walworth County are teaming up for a socially distant cork pull to benefit United Way.
“Donate $20 to United Way of Walworth County, and you’ll get to select a cork from our socially distanced cork table,” a press release about the event states.
The benefit will take place noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 23 at Lake Geneva Country Meats.
Each cork corresponds to a mystery bottle of red or white wine that is valued at more than $10, though there will be several wines valued at more than $30 and a few even valued at more than $100, according to organizers.
“We have a limited number of corks, so get here early to participate,” the release states.
One hundred percent of all the proceeds will go to the United Way of Walworth County and be immediately released to agencies helping people who have been distressed by COVID-19.
Agencies the proceeds will help include the Walworth County Food Pantry, Lake Geneva Food Pantry, Delavan Food Pantry, Elkhorn Food Pantry, Side by Side, Hope Now, Helping Hands and many more.
Those planning to attend can pay in advance and be guaranteed a cork. That’s not a requirement, however, there are only a limited number of corks that will be available.
“We hope to see you in our parking lot for a safe and easy way to support those in need in our community,” the release stated.
According to Tammy Dunn, executive director of United Way, only one party will be allowed to approach “the social distanced cork tables at a time.”
Lake Geneva Country Meats is at 5907 Highway 50, Lake Geneva.
