For the past three years, Keefe Kares, the charitable branch of Keefe Real Estate, has held an annual celebration to help raise funds for the various nonprofit organizations supported by the foundation.
This year, the event will be held on Sept. 28 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Activity Center at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn. It will feature a pig roast with fresh sweet corn, live music by blues musician Glenn Davis, beer and wine, raffles, and silent and live auction items.
“Our goal with the Celebration is to raise funds for local organizations and drive awareness to the invaluable work they provide our community,” said Keefe’s President and CEO Tom Keefe.
Keefe Kares is a 501c3 foundation that has distributed more $170,000 to more than 25 local charities the past three years. Money raised by the foundation comes from several sources – nearly 70 percent from individual agents and staff, many who have contributions auto-deducted from every commission or paycheck throughout the year with Keefe Real Estate matching their contributions.
Each year at the Keefe Kares Celebration, a “spotlight organization” is chosen and receives the proceeds from a specific auctioned item at the event. This year, the spotlight organization will be the Twin Oaks Shelter for the Homeless.
Twin Oaks Shelter for the Homeless is Walworth County’s only homeless shelter available 24/7 for families and has been serving our community for 26 years. Beyond simply a place to stay, Twin Oaks provides a professional case manager who works one-on-one with residents to resolve their crisis and find stable housing and employment.
