Two teenage hikers found the body of a 70-year-old man on private property in a marsh area off County Highway H in the Town of Geneva at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday.
The body was identified as James Louis Demeuse, who was reported missing and endangered in the Town of Geneva on Oct. 20.
According to a news release from the Town of Geneva Police Department, the body, which was decomposing, was transported to the Waukesha County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy was conducted. Evidence was transferred to the Wisconsin Crime Laboratory in Milwaukee for positive identification purposes.
Authorities have notified his next of kin. Law enforcement officials said they believe Demeuse’s death is an isolated incident that presents no public safety concerns, and foul play is not suspected.
