A portion of Highway 50 in Lake Geneva was closed for hours after a storm Wednesday night downed power lines and blew a transformer in the 1300 block of Main Street.
Highway 50 closed at about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday between Maxwell Street and Sky Lane, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Lake Geneva police Lt. Ed Gritzner said power lines came down and a transformer blew in that area, and the power company instructed police to close the street down. The section of roadway remained closed at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday and was expected to reopen at about 8 p.m. Thursday, Gritzner said.
He said the downed wires and blown transformer required a significant amount of time to repair.
