A Walworth County drug investigation culminated with the arrest of two Illinois men last week.
Angel Cruz and Froilan Avila-Romo, both of Harvard, Ill., were arrested and allegedly found with cocaine.
The Walworth County Drug Unit worked with the Lake Geneva Police Department, McHenry County Sheriffs Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration in the investigation.
Cruz was stopped on Lakeville Road in the Town of Walworth on July 3, and 3 ounces of cocaine were found in his vehicle, according to police.
At the same time, McHenry County police searched a house in Harvard, Ill., and recovered a scale, packaging material, 7.5 grams of cocaine and $2,400 in cash. They also searched Cruz’s house and recovered 5 grams of cocaine.
Cruz was arrested and confined in the Walworth County Jail on three counts of delivery of cocaine and one count possession with intent to deliver cocaine. The Walworth County Sheriff’s Department will be forward charges to the District Attorneys Office against Avila Romo for three counts of party to delivery of cocaine.
Avila-Romo was arrested by McHenry County sheriff’s deputies and confined in the McHenry County Jail on charges of four counts of delivery of cocaine. Charges of possession of cocaine against Cruz will be forwarded to the DA’s office.
