Walworth County authorities working in conjunction with federal Drug Enforcement Administration officials cracked down on the sale of heroin this week, arresting five people for distributing the drug in the Lake Geneva and Delavan areas.
Using undercover agents, authorities purchased drugs from the accused before making the arrests, according to a release issued by the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
Those arrested include a man, 33, and two women, ages 27 and 34, from Lake Geneva, and two men, ages 29 and 31, from Waukegan, Ill. The arrests were made on Feb. 10, 12 and 13.
The 34-year-old woman was arrested at a motel in the City of Lake Geneva on suspicion of two counts of party to a crime delivery of heroin.
The 27-year-old Lake Geneva woman was arrested at her residence on suspicion of five counts of delivery of cocaine, and one count party to a crime delivery of heroin.
The 33-year-old Lake Geneva man was arrested at his place of employment on suspicion of conspiracy to deliver heroin, one count party to a crime delivery of heroin and possession of a Schedule III non-narcotic drug.
The 31-year-old Waukegan man was arrested in a vehicle in the City of Lake Geneva on suspicion of two counts party to a crime of delivery of heroin.
The 29-year-old Waukegan man was arrested in a vehicle in the City of Lake Geneva on suspicion of party to a crime delivery of heroin and two counts of party to a crime delivery of cocaine.
Formal charges against the five were pending Friday morning with the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office. They are not named here until charges are filed.
Earlier this week, District Attorney Daniel Necci announced that he had filed criminal charges seeking seven felony counts of delivery of heroin against Jamaal T. Shellie of Waukegan.
