The Grand Belle of Lake Geneva will offer two New Year’s Day tours to watch “polar plungers” in Williams Bay and see winter on the lake after the plunge.
Spectators can board the heated, enclosed Grand Belle at 11:30 a.m. on the dock of Gage Marine and Pier 290 in Williams Bay to watch area residents jump in the icy water along the Williams Bay shoreline in swim suits to raise money for community non-profit organizations.
A second one-hour cruise beginning at 1:15 p.m. will offer another chance to view winter from the lake and give polar plungers a chance to get on board after their swim.
The cost is $10 for either cruise or $5 for children 12 years old and younger. The funds from the cruises will be split between the Williams Bay Sports Boosters Association and the Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy.
Harold Friestad, general manager of the Lake Geneva Cruise Line, said the temperature inside the boat will be a 65 degrees. The water temperature at the polar plunge will be about 34 degrees.
Festivities will continue after the boat tours around the outdoor fire pits and inside the Pier 290 Restaurant for food, fun and football.
