The Open Arms Free Clinic’s annual Golf Outing and Dinner has been canceled.
“We cannot, in good conscious, put our supporters in harms way. The COVID-19 has been disruptive to all things we know to be normal,” Open Arms stated in a press release.
“Even with a delayed outing date, or a virtual outing, we know our sponsors have less to give, and our golfers may or may not be able to share golf carts or even have a meal together. Thus, it is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel our 2020 Golf Outing and Dinner,” the release states.
Open Arms Free Clinic is connected with local, state and national free and charitable clinics to share and learn best practices to address the health needs of the most vulnerable communities.
“While we have continued providing medications and tele-health visits since the beginning of the Safer-at-Home mandate, we are now working to reactivate the clinic back to full function to care for the health and wellness needs of the growing number of low-income and uninsured residents in our county,” the release stated.
The golf outing was a major fundraiser for the clinic and the financial needs to care for the poor haven’t gone away.
“If you have been blessed with a continued paycheck, with the security of food and shelter, with the good conscious of heart and mind, please consider donating what you would have paid for a round of golf to Open Arms today,” the release stated.
“You can make a one-time gift, or monthly gift, and you will continue to make the collective impact of keeping our most vulnerable neighbors supported at Open Arms Free Clinic,” it stated.
