Prior to the official airing of an upcoming episode of Discover Wisconsin that will feature Elkhorn – titled “Postcard Perfect” – a premier showing will be held at Elkhorn Area High School.
“The premier showing is free but we want to fill that auditorium,” said Chris Clapper, executive director of the Elkhorn Area Chamber.
She said reservations for the premier – set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4 – are required because if all the seats are reserved for that showing, the premier will be shown again at 7:30 p.m. that night.
Being featured on the Discover Wisconsin show comes with a price tag but one that Clapper said the chamber was willing to pay.
“The chamber paid $40,000 for it but our board of directors believes in our community that much. From our businesses to residents, and the economic and tourism impact, we believe Elkhorn was worth it,” she said.
Clapper said the Discover Wisconsin episode is not a historical piece.
“It focuses on where Elkhorn is now, what it has to offer people and businesses and why people should want to come here,” she said.
After the commercials have been accounted for, the length of the segment on Elkhorn is 22 minutes.
“It features several local people – Frank Eames, Jim Boardman, Chris Stebnitz and several others,” Clapper said.
She said it was amazing to see the amount of time it took to put one episode together.
“The Discover Wisconsin crew was here in Elkhorn more than 10 times to film different areas throughout the community,” Clapper said.
She said those interested in seeing the premier on June 4 can reserve seats through the chamber, either by stopping in, calling 262-723-5788 or via a link on the website at elkhornchamber.com.
“We’ll even be serving refreshments afterwards. It’s going to be a great event for the community,” Clapper said.
“Postcard Perfect,” the Discover Wisconsin episode featuring Elkhorn, will air the weekend following the premier, on Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9.
