City of Elkhorn Common Council members voted in favor of adding emergency vehicle pre-emption devices at the two traffic signals at the Interstate 43 north and southbound intersections on Highway 67 at a Committee of the Whole meeting last Monday night.
The Jan. 28 vote is not a final decision, as the topic will have to come before the Council again for final approval, though it did receive support from all councilmembers.
The EVP system when activated would change traffic signals to red, stopping traffic from all directions to allow emergency vehicles to pass through the intersection safely.
