The City of Elkhorn Human Resources Committee met Sept. 24 to discuss filling the Department of Parks and Recreation director vacancy.
City Administrator Sam Tapson said requirements listed in the job description include a 4-year college or university degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or a closely related field of study, which is fairly standard.
Assuming the City wants to fill that position, Tapson recommended the process be started as soon as possible.
He said most of the recruitment efforts for the position would go toward universities, specifically the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, which has a Recreation Management program.
While this might mean the City would get a candidate lacking the experience level in the job description, Tapson said it’s unknown what type of employable people are available at this time.
The salary, dependent on qualifications, is already established and in the $55,000-$75,000 range.
