It will boost children’s activities at Autumn on the Farms
Recognizing the need for funding to support interactive children’s activities for the Autumn on the Farms weekends at Old World Wisconsin in Eagle, Target Corp. awarded a $1,000 grant through Old World Foundation.
Old World Wisconsin Director Dan Freas said the guests who attend the program at the outdoor museum will be treated to family-oriented, interactive programming.
As days grow shorter, everyone on the farms joins together to harvest, butcher, pickle and preserve the bounty of the harvest. Guests, including children, will be encouraged to participate in hop-harvesting, threshing barley with a flail, grinding barley in a hand-operated mill, preserving food such as sauerkraut and horseradish, helping to harvest the gardens, collecting and drying herbs and packing a root cellar.
The Autumn on the Farms program runs each weekend from Sept. 1 through Oct. 14.
Target’s commitment to serving the communities where they operate goes back to 1946. Their commitment includes supporting communities through local giving. Their grants help kids get involved in sports programs, field trips and other events.
“Target has been a long-time supporter of Old World Wisconsin through Old World Foundation and we appreciate their continued support,” Old World Foundation Executive Director Gwen Griffin said.
Named as one of the “Top 10 History Attractions in the United States” by Family Tree Magazine, Old World Wisconsin offers an interactive experience for all visitors.
Whether visitors want to ride a high-wheeled tricycle, gather eggs, wash clothes, churn butter, swing a historic baseball bat or learn about historic beer brewing, there is fun for everyone.
