With three applicants interested in assuming the role of District 3 Alderman, the City of Elkhorn Common Council voted Monday night in favor of appointing Ron Dunwidde to fill the position until the April.
Dunwidde was appointed to serve as the interim District 3 alderman in July after former Alderman Bruce Lechner resigned because he was moving out of the district. As one of the interested candidates, Dunwidde recused himself from Monday’s vote on the topic.
The vote – held at the end of the Aug. 20 meeting – was handled with a ranking system where each council member ranked each candidate one to three (one being first choice, three being last) on a sheet of paper. The votes were then tallied and the candidate with the least number of votes was recommended for the seat. Aldermen then voted in favor of a motion to approve said candidate.
More about Dunwidde and other items covered at the meeting can be found in the Aug. 23 Elkhorn Independent.
