In an effort to “save our brains and strike out Alzheimer’s” Bonnie Beam-Stratz and her family have created the Zombie Bowl, to be held Saturday, June 30 at Delavan Lanes, 509 S. 7th St. in Delavan.
Beam-Stratz, a community outreach coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association, said she and her sisters had the idea in their back pocket for some time and look forward to it coming to fruition.
“I would love to see this be a success and something my family will host annually,” she said.
The goal of the event is for it to be family-friendly, a fun time out and a way to raise funds for a cause that affects the entire community, according to organizers.
For the $15 registration fee, participants will each get two hours of bowling, shoe rental, a hot dog meal, one ticket for the door prize entry and amount donated to the association.
Adding to the fun, a zombie costume contest will be held for those who wish to dress “in their best zombie attire.” Prizes will be given to the best youth and adult zombies.
Beam-Stratz said they are asking participants to seek additional donations for the cause and for each additional $10 raised, an additional door prize entry ticket will be awarded.
Bowling can be done anytime between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Lanes will be assigned when people check in. T-shirts will be available for purchase at the event.
