The Elkhorn Area Fire Department will hold its 48th annual Elkhorn Firefighters’ Street Dance from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday outside of the fire station at 13 S. Broad St.
The event will kick off with food and drinks at 5 p.m. Food offerings will include barbecue ribs, shredded chicken, pork sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs. Meals include chips, a pickle and a choice of soda.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by two groups – The Novy Spinners, at 5 p.m., and Cherry Pie, at 8 p.m., sponsored by Frank’s Piggly Wiggly, Sugar Creek Mutual Insurance, Wedige Automotive, Elkhorn Driveshaft Company, Palmer Hamilton LLC, First National Bank and Trust, and Skipper Bud’s.
An ID will be required to receive a wristband for alcoholic beverages and tickets will be available at the door. Admittance will be restricted to patrons 21 and older, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Elkhorn Area Fire Department in numerous ways to not only continue its fire prevention and education efforts, but also firefighter safety. Specifically, proceeds from this year’s event will fund specialized fire and rescue equipment, which includes personal protective gear needed by department volunteers for structural fire fighting, emergency medical and rescue supplies, and other items to assist the department in better serving the community’s fire and medical needs.
South Broad Street will be closed off for the duration of the event, as well as during set up and tear down.
