For Elkhorn Area High School senior Cade Fink, the EAHS Auto Club’s car show, to be held Saturday, is an event that offers more than just an opportunity for vehicle enthusiasts to gather.
“A lot of us aren’t athletes who have games and tournaments to display our talent to the community, so this car show is a chance for us to tell the community all of the awesome things that we’ve been able to do throughout the year. It also gives us a chance to say ‘thank you’ for their support and show off how far we’ve come,” Fink said.
Austin Thorson, the current auto teacher at EAHS who started at the school in 2012, created the auto club as a way to allow students to work on vehicles – their own and for members of the community.
“The next year he came up with the idea for the car show through the auto club and we had 12 cars. The following year it moved to Annie’s Burger Town and we had about 40 so moved it back to the high school. Last year we had nearly 80 cars,” Fink said. “We’re hoping for 100 this year.”
