A project orientation for all young people from 5-year-old kindergarten through 13-year-olds who are interested in 4-H shooting sports projects will take place at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at Elkhorn Area Middle School.
4-H shooting sports projects are wildlife, rifle, shotgun, archery, muzzle loading-traditional and sportsman, or pistol.
Instructors from each project area will be present to explain where and when district shooting workshops will be held this year. Registration forms and the 2018 project rules will be distributed.
The meeting is particularly important for new and prospective members. Members not able to attend must call one of the instructors to get started in the project. More information can be obtained by contacting the UW-Extension office at 262-741-4951.
People who have not yet signed up for shooting sports should plan to attend the orientation. To be eligible to participate in events at the county and state level, participants must enroll in the 4-H program by March 1 in each discipline for which they will compete.
4-H is a UW-Extension youth development program. Members participate in monthly community club meetings and have access to county, state, national and even international learning opportunities.
