This year’s recipient of the 2017 Elkhorn All Sports Booster Club Fan of the Year was recently awarded to Ed Scaro.
“Ed’s commitment to Elkhorn Area High School is unparalleled. First, as a high school athlete himself in 1978, then as a parent cheering for his own kids from the stands and, then as an activist for the school, Ed’s energy and dedication is unmatched,” Marge Gahart of the club, wrote.
“Ed often works behind the scenes without any attempt to gain attention for himself. He has coached youth sports in Elkhorn; helped lead the charge for the ‘Say Yes’ committee working to pass the recent referendums so needed by the school district; and, he has been very active on the board of directors for the Elkhorn Area All Sports Booster Club,” she added.
For the Booster Club, Scaro has served multiple terms as president and vice president, and has organized the Club’s annual golf outing in conjunction with the Rotary for many years.
“He organizes and runs our most successful fundraiser – the Walworth County Fair parking concession – as well,” Gahart wrote.
Scaro was presented a plaque for the honor by current club president, Dave Welsch, during a recent basketball game at Elkhorn Area High School.
