Overnight ramp closure on Feb. 15
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is planning long-term closures in Elkhorn of the westbound Highway 12 off-ramp to Highway NN and the Highway NN on-ramp to eastbound Highway 12, beginning Feb. 15.
The closures are part of the Highway 12/NN Interchange reconstruction project. The aforementioned ramps, along with the Highway NN on-ramp to westbound Highway 12 and the eastbound Highway 12 off-ramp to Highway NN, both of which closed last week, are scheduled to reopen mid-summer of 2016.
The long-term closure traffic detours are:
- Traffic heading westbound on Highway 12 intending to exit at Highway NN will be directed to exit Highway 12 at Interstate 43 southbound. Traffic will head southbound on I-43 and exit at Highway 67 (Lincoln Street). After exiting, traffic will continue north on Lincoln Street until reaching the Highway NN (Geneva Street) intersection. At the intersection, traffic can head east or west on Geneva Street.
- Traffic intending to exit Highway NN (Geneva Street) onto eastbound Highway 12 will be directed west onto Highway NN until the WIS 67 (Lincoln Street) intersection. Continue to head south on Lincoln Street until the Highway 67/I-43 interchange where traffic can choose to head north or south on I-43. Northbound I-43 traffic will be directed to exit at the I-43/ Highway 12 interchange where traffic will be able to choose either the Highway 12 eastbound or westbound ramp.
Overnight closure
On Feb. 15, there will be an overnight closure of virtually every ramp in the Interchange. These short-term closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The detour for the overnight ramp closure for westbound Highway 12 to Highway NN, differs from the ramp’s long-term closure detour.
