A status conference is scheduled for March 9 for an Elkhorn man who is suspected of throwing a hammer through a car window, injuring his girlfriend.
Jonathan M. Taylor, 21, was charged Dec. 29 in Walworth County Circuit Court with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, substantial battery and disorderly conduct, all with the use of a dangerous weapon and with domestic abuse assessments; and criminal damage to property and felony bail jumping; all as a repeater.
According to the criminal complaint, Alexandria Loire, 21, of Clinton, was “hysterical” and called 911 at about 8:45 p.m. Dec. 14 to report her boyfriend, Taylor, broke the window of her car and she was bleeding from the face.
Loire was taken to Aurora Lakeland Medical Center with her jaw broken in two places and a cut to her chin that a doctor said would require multiple layers of stitches and a complex procedure to close, according to the complaint.
Loire told police she was living with Taylor in a garage in Elkhorn, but they had an argument, and Loire went to the library and called her husband, Sebastian Loire, 21, of Genoa City, to pick her up, according to the complaint. Alexandria Loire said while she and her husband were stopped at a traffic light near Subway, the passenger window next to her shattered and she was hit in the face by something that caused extreme pain in her jaw, according to the complaint.
Sebastian Loire got out of the car, saw Taylor and chased him as he ran north but was unable to catch up to him, according to the complaint. Loire found a hammer in the back seat of the car that he said was not there before the window was broken.
Taylor’s father said he gave Taylor a hammer earlier that day.
Sebastian Loire filed for divorce in Walworth County Circuit Court on Oct. 16.
