After City Administrator Sam Tapson was prompted to reach out to Bartolotta Fireworks Co., Inc., about this year’s fireworks snafu, Bartolotta has responded and members of the City of Elkhorn Finance and Judicial Committee aren’t exactly thrilled with the response.
In a letter to Tapson, President Jeff Bartolotta said he understands the city’s frustration with the issue not being addressed, however, this was the first time they’ve heard about the problems with this year’s Fourth of July celebrations.
“That being said we have learned that there were some crew members on your display that were not happy with the person in charge who was running the display,” he wrote.
“We have recently released him from our company and will assign a new and better crew for the upcoming year.”
Bartolotta continued on, noting the company is willing to offer the city a $2,000 discount for 2016 plus an additional $1,000 worth of free product and an assurance “this will not happen again.”
“We pride ourselves in our staff, but unfortunately this crew didn’t perform to our expectations,” he wrote.
While a $2,000 discount might seem like a decent deal, committee members weren’t overly thrilled with the offer Monday night.
