Committee reviewing fireworks options, looking at another company
In looking to prepare for next year’s July 4 celebrations, the City of Elkhorn Finance and Judicial Committee began reviewing it’s options for fireworks displays Monday evening, meeting with a sales representative from J&M Displays, Inc.
Monday’s meeting was purely informational and the committee made no decisions on whether it would pursue a contract with J&M Displays or the provider it has worked with in the past, Bartolotta Fireworks Co., Inc.
Mayor Brian Olson said with having a little disappointment as a community over this past year’s fireworks display he contacted Bryan Olson of J&M Displays to discuss what kind of experience the company offers.
Based out of Iowa, Bryan Olson said some of J&M Displays’ notable area performances include the City of Delavan fireworks, the Village of Fontana’s July 4 celebrations and the US Bank fireworks on the lakefront in Milwaukee, previously handled by Bartolotta Fireworks.
Mayor Olson said he asked Bryan Olson to prepare some information for the committee, based on an expenditure of about $10,000, as well as an additional package if the city wanted to “make up to the community for last year’s debacle.”
