Summer fun for the whole family

Residents take in a little sun and water at Elkhorn’s new Sunset Pool when it opened at the end of June. The heated pool includes slides, basketball hoops, zero entry, geysers, handicapped accessibility, concessions, shade umbrellas and more. Pool hours are: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends.

15 kid friendly summer activities for $15 or less

Make new memories with your children this summer in the Walworth area. The area is bursting with great summer activities, and the Walworth County Visitors Bureau has created a list of 15 fun summer activities, each costing $15 or less.   1. Play a round of mini golf at Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, $5 per adult, $3 per child;
  2. Tour Milton House Museum, a treasured national historic landmark that was once a stop on the Underground Railroad, located in nearby Milton, $8 per adult, $4 per youth 5-17, children 5 and under are free;
  3. Boogie to the beats at a local concert in the park; weekly summer concerts are offered in Burlington, Delavan, East Troy, and Lake Geneva, free;
  4. Ride a pony at Dan Patch Stables, found near the entrance of the Grand Geneva Resort property, $8 per child per pony ride;
  5. Kayak on Lake Comus in Delavan with Delavan Paddlesports, $15 per boat for a two-hour rental on weekdays;
  6. Take the plunge at Aerial Adventures, Lake Geneva with their “Free Fall,” $15 per person;
  7. Pack a picnic and head to one of the area’s many lakes or beaches, free – beach admission prices not included;
  8. Walk the brick streets of downtown Delavan and see if you can spot all of the new Walldogs murals, free;
  9. Burn off some energy at Geneva Lakes YMCA – play basketball, run a few laps, or swim in the indoor pool. Day passes are available for non-members, $9 per adult, $5 per child – day pass rates;
  10. Climb the indoor rock climbing wall at Grand Geneva, located within the WELL Spa area, $25 for 3 climbers for 30 minutes; $50 for 6 climbers for 60 minutes;
  11. Splash around at the brand new Sunset Pool in Elkhorn, featuring two slides, geysers, basketball hoops, diving boards, dunk buckets, and more, $5 per person, children 2 and younger are free;
  12. Tour Rushing Waters Fisheries in Palmyra; every Thursday this summer, they are offering free farm tours, free; fishing is available on-site for an additional fee;
  13. Throw a disc around at Grand Geneva’s disc golf course, located on the Grand Geneva Resort property, $10 disc rental – includes entrance fee, $5 for each additional guest;
  14. Teach your kids about fruits and vegetables at a local farmers’ market, offered weekly in the communities of Burlington, Delavan, East Troy, Elkhorn, Fontana, Lake Geneva and Whitewater, free;
  15. Check out your local library and parks & recreation departments for summer camps, classes, and other fun – and sometimes free – activities, some library programs are free; check with program coordinator for details and prices;
