The Elkhorn Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce are working together to again pull of another successful Festival of Summer this weekend in downtown Elkhorn’s Veteran’s Park.

Saturday’s event will kick off at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, running until about 10 a.m., followed by a corn and brat roast from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Throughout the day, numerous vendors of crafts and other items will be on-hand in Veteran’s Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Elkhorn Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Chris Clapper said Monday night they’re at about the same number of vendors they had at last year’s event.

The annual event will again feature a beer tent, kicking off at noon on Saturday and continuing throughout the evening featuring local bands. The Big Fun Trio will kick off beer tent entertainment at 2 p.m., followed by Lunch Money Bullies at 7 p.m., who will finish off the night at 11 p.m.

Other entertainment will be available throughout the day on the event’s community stage, featuring various local acts and the Walworth County Fair’s “Show US Your Talent” contest.

The Community stage entertainment schedule is as follows:

  • Dreams Studio Performing Arts, 9:30 a.m.;
  • AKF Flying Dragons, 10:30 a.m.;
  • Walworth County Cloggers, 11:30 a.m.
  • Toe to Toe Ballet, 12:30 p.m.;
  • and the Walworth County Fair’s “Show US Your Talent” contest, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

City Attorney and Rotarian Ward Phillips said Monday night it’s going to be a great event this year featuring bands and plenty of food.

“It’s going to be a great time,” he said.

While not technically associated with the Rotary Club’s event, the United Way of Walworth County will be holding its sixth annual Run United 5-mile run and 2-mile run and walk during the Rotary Festival of Summer.

New this year, the annual run will feature a 1-mile fun run for children younger than 17.

The annual run is set to kick off at 9 a.m., with the route traveling through the Elkhorn community.

Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children 17 and younger prior to Friday, and costs $30 for adults and $15 for children 17 and younger on the day of the race. The cost to register for the 17 and younger 1-mile fun run is $5.

All proceeds from the run directly benefit the United Way of Walworth County and the more than 40 agencies serving Walworth County residents it supports.
