For some, hanging Christmas lights becomes a bit of a chore, untangling the multiple strings and spending hours trying to figure out which single bulb burnt out and is keeping the whole string from lighting up. For Kevin Strickhouser however, it’s become a hobby and yearly tradition.

What started with five control boxes after watching a video on Youtube about vie years ago, Strickhouser, who runs a musical light show at his home at W5355 Highway ES in Elkhorn, has now grown his show immensely due to the high traffic and compliments received from area residents.

“At first it was kind of like, I like lights I’m going to put some up,” he said. “There’s no way I’d have this elaborate of a display if there wasn’t people supporting it.”

Running it every night from dusk until 10 p.m. on week nights, sometimes 11 p.m. on the weekends, Strickouser said he plans to run the show through at least Jan. 2, but if there’s still a traffic stopping by his house he’ll keep the lights up and running a little longer. Passers-by can tune in to 88.5 FM to hear the music the lights are programmed to.
