One of the residents who lives on the former East Troy Lake, addressed the Village Board at Monday night’s meeting, voicing her concerns about how the cattails were going to be removed from the former lake bed.
With the draw down of the lake since the July 2017 flooding and the impending permanent removal of the East Troy Dam, the issue of how to get rid of the invasive cattails during the restoration of the Honey Creek has been recently discussed by the Village Board.
Val Aide, one of the homeowners on the lake, came to Monday night’s meeting to read a letter to the editor she had sent the newspaper. Her letter can be read on the Opinion page in this week’s edition of the newspaper.
In her letter and when she spoke to the board, Aide implored the Village Board members to consider the health dangers of spraying chemicals on the cattails. She said she recognized the cattails had to be removed, but she cautioned the board to consider the best way possible, with the least danger to the environment, for the weed remediation.
