East Troy’s annual Planes, Trains and Automobiles will be Saturday, Aug. 10. Visit the East Troy Railroad, firehouse, airport and Gus’s Drive-In for a day filled with family fun.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles returns Aug. 10

East Troy will host its second annual Planes, Trains and Automobiles event Saturday, Aug. 10 bringing a fun filled and action packed day to town.

The event kicks off with the much-anticipated return of the Friends of the East Troy Airport’s open house, pancake breakfast fly-in, and car show from 7 a.m. to noon, featuring an assortment of vintage, homebuilt and certified aircrafts. Attendees can enjoy breakfast among special guest plane appearances, family friendly activities and a performance by the Skydive Milwaukee skydivers.

From there attendees can head to the East Troy Fire Department’s Open House featuring demos, games, food and fire truck rides, then explore a variety of antique trolleys and interurban coaches at the East Troy Railroad and finish the day with vintage and muscle cars at Gus’s Drive-In Cruise Night at 4 p.m.

East Troy Airport will host its annual Open House, Pancake Breakfast and Fly-In, and Car Show. Eat breakfast, experience flying in an authentic World War II aircraft, enjoy the variety of cars on display, grab a raffle ticket and watch the Skydive Milwaukee skydivers.

Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to noon. Tickets for breakfast are $8 for adults and $5 for children (8 and younger).

 

Fire Trucks

11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stop by the East Troy Fire Department to see what being a volunteer firefighter entails. Meet your local volunteers and check out all the apparatus (kids are able to ride in a fire truck). Food will be available for purchase.

Games, demonstrations and more going on throughout the day, including:

  • Bounce house and fire truck rides
  • Police department and other vehicles on display
  • Car extrication demos at noon and 2 p.m.
  • Fire extinguisher hands- on demonstrations at 1 and 3 p.m.
  • CPR demonstrations at 4 p.m.
  • Blood pressure checks throughout the day
  • Meat raffles: and
  • Food available – hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, corn on the cob, soda and water

Trains

East Troy Railroad Museum

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ride the rails of the 112-year-old East Troy Electric Railroad, Wisconsin’s last original electric railroad line. Passengers can pick up the train at the East Troy Depot, on the hour, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.:

  • Departing East Troy Depot – 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. (last round trip if starting here).
  • Departing Elegant Farmer Depot – 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. (last round trip if starting here), 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Departing Indian Head Park – 10:40 a.m., 11:40 p.m., 12:40 p.m., 1:40 p.m. (last round trip if starting here), 2:40 p.m. and 3:40 p.m.

The depot/museum is open a half-hour before the first scheduled train and closes when the last train gets in for the day.

Fares are $12.50 for adults, $10.50 for seniors and $8 for youth age 3 to 14. Children younger than 2 ride for free.
