Father’s Day dinner train kicks off series of elegant dining events
The East Troy Railroad is offering a Father’s Day dinner train Saturday, June 15.
The table will be elegantly set with linen tablecloths and China and guests will have a choice of a bacon-wrapped filet or blackened salmon for their entrée in the four-course meal.
The Father’s Day train kicks off a season of dinner trains on the East Troy Electric Railroad, which operates the last 7 miles of the original track from The Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Co. system. Trains travel from the historical East Troy Depot, at 2002 Church St., to the shores of Phantom Lake in Mukwonago, with a stop at Indianhead Park.
Prices for the Dinner Trains range from $49 to $80 per person, and tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance. The trains are air-conditioned with restrooms on board. A cash bar is available.
Other upcoming dinner trains include:
- July 6, Surf-N-Turf, 8 ounce filet topped with jumbo Shrimp
- July 20 and Aug. 17, Family Pasta Night, hand-rolled Italian meatballs;
- Aug 24, Summer Delight, southern sticky chicken or baby back pork ribs;
- Sept 14, Indian Summer, stuffed pork tenderloin or pear-glazed chicken;
- Sept 28, Oktoberfest, sauerbraten with German dill mashed potatoes;
- Oct 5, Fall Harvest, beef bourguignon or orange rustic roughy;
- Oct 19, Sweetest Day, beef tenderloin or blackened salmon; and
- Oct 26, Season Finale, char-grilled imported elk.
Dinner trains depart from East Troy at 5:30 p.m. (5 p.m. in October) and board 30 minutes prior to departure. The trains return to East Troy about two hours after departure. Free parking is available at the depot, which has a gift shop, small museum and public restrooms.
Dinner trains often sell out in advance, so railroad officials advise making reservations at www.easttroyrr.org as early as possible.
About the railroad
In addition to the dinner trains, the East Troy Railroad Museum operates 14-mile round trip excursions each weekend from its East Troy depot and museum to Indianhead Park in Mukwonago, with a stop at the Elegant Farmer.
This year the railroad is celebrating 112 years of electric railroading through Southeast Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine countryside.
The 501(c)(3) not-for-profit railroad museum is operated and managed by more than 140 volunteers committed to the operation and preservation of historic trolleys and interurban railcars.
