The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the 14-year-old boy who drowned Sunday in Peters Lake in the Town of Troy.
According to a press release from the Sherrif’s Office, Adebisi O. Agoro, of Milwaukee, had been swimming Sunday afternoon with other children in the lake when he had failed to surface from the water.
The 911 call came in just after 3 p.m. on June 24 and sheriff’s deputies, Troy Center Fire Department and East Troy Rescue responded.
According to the release, the initial investigation revealed the children were swimming and playing on a floating platform. Witnesses said the victim jumped off the platform while wearing a life jacket and when the victim went under water, the life jacket separated from his body.
After an extensive dive-rescue operation, divers recovered the body at 7:35 p.m., according to the release.
“The Sheriff’s Office extends our condolences to the Agoro family,” the release staed.
The Sheriff’s Office also extended thanks to Camp Timber Lee for facilitating access to Peters Lake and providing support to the operation even though nobody from their organization was directly involved in the drowning.
