The East Troy School Board received an update on the demolition timeline for the Chester Byrnes building at Monday night’s meeting.

Board member Steve Lambrechts asked for an update during the discussion of “future items” for the board and Business Manager Kathy Zwirgzdas said they were in the process of setting up a pre-demo walk through and scheduling a safety meeting that were needed to move forward with the demolition.

She told the board the cost of the demo had increased because the district didn’t meet the deadline in the original contract and was now estimated at $205,000. The district also has to do a hazard study and they didn’t know yet what the hazardous material abatement costs were going to be yet.

Zwirgzdas told the board a target date of April 23 was being looked at for demolition, but that could change, depending on the study results. She added that it was her hope everything was done by the end of the district’s fiscal year – June 30.
