In what has become a hotly contested race, East Troy Village Board President Randy Timms is being challenged by Trustee Scott Seager for his seat on the board.

With the candidates on either side of what has become a great divide on the Village Board, the Spring Election on April 4 has become a bit of a showdown.

Timms and Seager both said they didn’t like what was going on with the board and the recent conflicts, but they differed in the cause and the solution.

“I find it both interesting and sad,” Timms said. “The attacks on me are aimed at a personal level and most of the comments are generated from just two people making great noise about nothing of substance … I certainly feel I’m the one being maligned and any contribution (to the problem) on my part is due to the fact that I won’t succumb to their tactics.”

Seager cited what he thought was a lack of transparency with issues facing the board recently and said better communication was the solution.

“I don’t think alienating people is the answer to the problem,” Seager said. “We need open communication and more understanding of differing opinions and ideas. We need to listen to each other and not shut down the conversation because we don’t like what we’re hearing. Just because someone doesn’t have the same opinion of something, doesn’t mean they’re wrong.”
