Beware of thin ice!

Ice fishermen head onto Booth Lake at dusk Jan. 16. With unseasonably warm temperatures and recent precipitation, the ice on area lakes is thinning rapidly. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reported several Free Fishing Weekend events were canceled Jan. 21 and 22 because of deteriorating ice conditions and a 60-year-old Town of Linn man drowned on Geneva Lake while ice fishing Wednesday morning.
